Delta Capacity brings together market leaders in battery technology, construction, and engineering to build out its Finnish flagship BESS

Delta Capacity partners with Sungrow, NEPower, and Despro, leading names in battery storage technology, electrical construction, and engineering, to deliver Karppio, a 125 MW / 300 MWh (2-hour duration) battery energy storage system (BESS) under construction in Teuva, Finland. Karppio is being developed by Delta Capacity together with Strioga Family Foundation, with commissioning planned for Q4 2027 and Delta Capacity serving as long-term asset manager.

By bringing in Sungrow, NEPower, and Despro, Delta Capacity has secured a delivery team of established partners spanning the full BESS value chain. Sungrow, a leading global supplier of PV inverters and energy storage systems, will supply the BESS technology. NEPower, a Nordic electrification specialist, will serve as balance-of-plant (BoP) contractor, delivering electrification and substation works. With construction now under way, Despro's multidisciplinary team is providing local owner's engineering support. Delta Capacity has also previously signed a partial tolling agreement with Centrica Energy, that will optimise and trade the asset across Nordic power markets, leveraging its 24/7 trading and multi-market optimisation capabilities. Once operational, Karppio will provide grid flexibility, frequency regulation, and balancing services to Finland's power system as the country's share of wind and solar generation continues to grow.

"Karppio is exactly the kind of project the Nordics need right now: real scale, backed by a team that can deliver it properly. With Strioga alongside us as co-investor and our strategic partner, and Sungrow, NEPower, and Despro bringing the technology, construction, and local engineering expertise, we have the right partners in place to get this built and generating value for the Finnish grid on schedule." — Patrik Hes, CEO, Delta Capacity

Finland's power system is among the cleanest in Europe, but rapid growth in wind and solar generation is increasing the need for flexible, dispatchable assets that can balance supply and demand in real time. Battery storage projects like Karppio are central to that transition, and Delta Capacity's Nordic pipeline — including the recently completed Ånge project in Sweden — reflects the scale of investment now flowing into the region's grid infrastructure
