Battery Energy Storage
Utility-scale battery energy storage provide cost-efficient flexibility. Strengthening the electricity grid by delivering a full range of balancing and capacity services, increasing resilience and stability.
Grid flexibility
As part of tackling climate change, renewable energy production is predicted to rapidly increase, stressing the existing electrical system.
The transition to a green, fossil-free energy system requires a more flexible electrical grid, where utility scale battery energy systems function as flexible assets capable of stabilising the system by rapidly charging or discharging at a moments notice.
This allows flexible assets to safeguard stability by continuously balancing supply and demand. Delta Capacity’s solutions provide power on timescales from milliseconds to minutes, functioning as an essential part of the grid.
The Balancing Market
Frequency regulation is an important aspect of grid reliability and stability, as deviations from the nominal frequency can cause widespread power outages and damage to electrical equipment.
Battery energy storage systems are able to respond to split second variations in the grid, effectively balancing the grid providing stability. Our utility-scale batteries function as cost-effective, reliable flexible asset on the balancing market.
Battery energy systems offer several types of reserves, the fastest of which include frequency containment reserves (FCR), while frequency restoration reserves (FRR) have slower activation times but longer durations.
The Capacity Market
The fossil-free electricity grid of the future demands capacity reserves during periods of high demand, where utility-scale batteries are designed to provide capacity when needed. Reserve capacity solutions are essential to counteract voltage drops and prevent blackouts.
A higher share of renewables in the electricity mix demand more flexible energy assets, being able to shift the energy consumption to off-peak hours, “load shifting”, or providing energy during peak energy demand, “peak shaving”.
Utility-scale batteries provide a cost-effective solution on the capacity market, being able to reduce energy costs for consumers and utilities, improving grid efficiency and reducing the need for new power generation capacity as well increasing the use of power generated by renewable energy sources.
Project acquisition
Delta Capacity has secured significant funding to acquire a large portfolio of utility-scale battery energy storage projects. We acquire already developed projects with different grades of maturity to completely Ready-to-Build.
For Land Owners
Do you have land available for lease? Let battery energy storage facilities act as an asset and income source, and facilitate the transition to a more sustainable society. Delta Capacity develops battery energy solutions, leasing land with favorable location to electricity grid infrastructure.
01
Grid connection
Battery energy storage requires a strong grid connection. If your land is adjacent to electricity grid infrastracture, translines or substations, let's connect!
03
How much can I earn?
We pay competetive rates to property owners that coolaborate with us. Since every project and site is different, we create customized agreements for each landowner.
05
Risk-free
We are determined to make the process as risk-free as possible, covering legal costs during initial discussions on the agreement. We also manage the planning process with local authority.
02
Location and size
Large, flat fields of 1000 sqm or more, are most suitable for battery facilities. Every site has to be carefully evaluated, with carefull planning, even hilly or sloping terrain can be possible.
04
Lease duration
Our standard lease terms range from 20-40 years. This is to ensure that we can provide a energy solution that sustainably contribute to net zero emission targets 2045.
06
Safety
Our battery solutions are safe facalities. They are tested and have been selected for their superior fire safety performance. The systems are continously monitored, and in the unlike event of a fire, the facilities utilise automatic fire detection and suppression systems.
