Services

Delta Capacity provides a full range of services that large-scale battery systems are uniquely designed for. Our 1-hour to 4-hour systems help grid operators, distributors and customers with optimized balancing capacity and peak shifting solutions.

Frequency Regulation

Ensures the balance of electricity supply and demand at all times. Delta Capacity’s solutions provide capacity over time frames from seconds to minutes.

The frequency regulation is an important aspect of grid reliability and stability, as deviations from the nominal frequency can cause widespread power outages and damage to electrical equipment.

For example FCR-N is an automatic support service that provides the stability to the frequency when small changes occur in the consumption or generation while FCR-D ensures the frequency stability from further changes in the event of malfunctions.

The Balancing Market

The battery energy systems are perseveral reserves, the fastest of which are frequency containment reserves (FCR), while frequency restoration reserves (FRR) have a longer activation time.

The FCR market is further divided into two types of FCR called FCR-N, for normal mode, and FCR-D, which is activated to deal with disturbances. The FRR market consists of automatic (aFRR) and manual types of reserves (mFRR).

Load Shifting

The process of shifting energy use from high-demand periods, also known as "peak hours," to low-demand periods, also known as "off-peak hours." This technique is used to manage energy demand and reduce the strain on the electric power grid during peak hours.

By shifting energy consumption to off-peak hours, peak shifting can help reduce energy costs for consumers and utilities, improve grid reliability, and reduce the need for new power generation capacity as well increase the use of power generated by renawable energy sources. The grid-scale battery energy systems play an enormously important role in creating a more efficient and cost-effective energy system.
